Spots in different areas of the body can sometimes indicate mild, even serious health problems and should be of concern. From problems caused by cosmetics or other external agents, hormonal imbalances to even kidney or liver diseases, spots on your skin can tell you to no longer wait and make a doctor’s appointment.
Spots on your buttocks can indicate poor hygiene or tight underwear. You know why poor hygiene is bad for your health, so I’ll only describe some of the negative effects of wearing tight underwear.
Tight underwear may cause bacteria to collect in that part of the body, especially during summer. If the area is constantly covered, moisture collects, creating the perfect breeding ground for bacteria or yeast. This could lead to irritation and skin infections.
Spots on your chin and neck may be caused by overactive adrenal glands. These glands are found on top of each kidney and make certain types of hormones. The adrenal glands may start to make too many hormones on their own for unknown reasons, but sometimes this can happen because of high doses of steroid medicines, administered for a long time. Stress is also a reason for why the adrenal glands can be overactive.
Spots on your back and shoulders can be a symptom of digestive problems.
Spots on your chest can point to a hormonal imbalance. According to the Women in Balance Institute, “Hormone fluctuations occur naturally, such as in puberty, menopause and perimenopause. Hormone imbalance may also be caused by toxins or an unbalanced lifestyle”, and understanding its causes can even prevent breast cancer. More info here.
Spots on your elbow may be caused by allergies or fungal infections and those on your upper abdomen can indicate a blood sugar imbalance.
Finally, spots on your legs can point to an allergic reaction to cosmetics or a vitamin deficiency.
